John Duffy,
Counselling Psychologist,
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) Clinician

I graduated as a Counselling Psychologist in 1995 following studies at University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin. I am a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Since 1995 I have gained extensive experience providing counselling/psychotherapy for a wide range of mental health issues and client groups. I have also worked as a clinical lead therapist for organisations in both the charity and corporate sector gaining significant experience leading teams and programmes to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of individuals/employees.

I specialise in the treatment of insomnia and sleep difficulties using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia. I have a deep desire to help others sleep better having experienced insomnia firsthand. I have found CBT-I to be an effective therapy for insomnia. I am therefore well placed to talk the talk and walk the walk!
In addition to my training as a Counselling Psychologist, I am a certified CBT-I clinician having completed:

• Certified CBT-I Clinician training (Dr. Gregg Jacobs, formerly Harvard Medical School)
• CBT-I Certificate (Professional Educational Systems Institute)
• CBT-I Masterclass (Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, University of Oxford)

I integrate other therapeutic approaches as appropriate and as needed such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Insomnia (ACT-I), Compassion Focused Therapy and EMDR.

I also provide therapy for other mental health issues in addition to therapy for insomnia.
